
Mohammed Rashid

Mr Rashid is lead clinician for the Corneal Service and Consultant lead in Ophthalmology for the Clinical Effectiveness and Audit Group (CEAG) at The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
He has practising privileges to provide Consultant-led ophthalmic care at the Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital and the Bournemouth Private Clinic (BPC).
He is the only Keratorefactive surgeon in Dorset that is fellowship trained in Cornea, Complex Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Mr Rashid was born and raised in the UK. He studied Medicine at the University of Liverpool and graduated with prizes and Distinction in 2004. Subsequently, he underwent specialist training in ophthalmology in Birmingham and Cardiff, with extensive sub-specialist training in cornea and cataract surgery, and external eye disease.
He has undertaken several fellowships to enhance his training in cornea, cataract and refractive laser surgery, and has won prizes for presentations at national refractive surgery meetings.
He completed a refractive surgery fellowship under the world renowned refractive surgeon, Sheraz Daya at the Centre for Sight, and then two further fellowships in cornea, complex cataract and refractive surgery at the University Hospital of Southampton NHS Trust and the pioneering CorneoPlastic Unit at the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, East Grinstead, respectively. Mr Rashid has considerable experience in a wide variety of corneal transplantation techniques.
Mr Rashid then worked as a General Ophthalmologist with an interest in Cornea and External Eye Disease at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, where he setup the cornea and external eye disease service, from 2016 until he was appointed Consultant Cornea, Cataract and External Eye Disease Surgeon at the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2017.
In addition to his wealth of experience in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery, Mr Rashid is an expert in external eye disease and dry eye disorders. His fellowship training also enhanced his skills in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, including Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), and maintains an array of skills in the management of general ophthalmic disorders.
